Dry body brushing
May 20th, 2011I know I already wrote about Dry body brushing in an old post but I thought it would be a good idea to highlight again what are the dry body brushing benefits (especially getting into winter!).
Exfoliation : When we are young the skin regeneration occurs frequently but as we get older it slows down and we get a build up of dead skin on the surface, leaving our skin feeling dry, rough, ingrown hairs, bumpy skin. Dry body brushing helps exfoliate the dead skin on the top layer. Moisturisers and creams are absorbed better!
Stimulation of collagen production : Sweat and oil glands help keep our skin moist, and the collagen and elastin fibers help strengthen our skin, as we get older the pores become flaccid and collagen and elastin fibres start to break down, the skin becomes thin and can break. Dry body brushing helps stimulate the sweat oil glands improving moisture to our skin and also strengthen the collagen and elastin fibres, keeping our skin strong and pliable.
Balance the skin: Our skin needs to breathe; it requires air and light to function properly. We cover our skin with clothes, especially in the colder seasons. The use of cosmetic products, especially antiperspirants with aluminum compound plugs up the sweat ducts. Dry body brushing can compensate for what we do to the skin by invigorating it, opening up the pores and bringing it back to a healthy state.
Dry brushing can improve venous blood circulation and lymphatic drainage helping to release toxins and congestion to reduce cellulite. Many people use dry brushing successfully to assist with the relief of arthritis, improve poor circulation and remove bumpy skin from backs of leg and buttocks. So I think, we should all dry body brush…before jumping into the shower…
(for more details, go on the Bodecare website, it’s a mine of information for dry body brushing, and we love their brushes !)
Shatters…
May 6th, 2011A couple of months ago, OPI released its Black shatter. That was fantastic and a lot of you just loved it!!
Black shatter is a colour that can be layered on top of any polish. When it dries out, it cracks and give an amazing effect to the nails. Always make sure that the polish is completely dry before applying it.
Add the top coat and you will get a glossy finish!
We are now getting other shatters for dramatic and sexy looks and surprising effects… Try them all, the possibilities are endless!
What is a couple massage?
April 20th, 2011Need to de-stress and unwind? Know someone else who needs to as well? Maybe your partner, best friend or relative? Why not consider a couples massage ?
A couple’s massage is basically a massage that takes place in the same room. You each get your own bed and massage therapist, but get to share the relaxing experience together! Couple’s massage is a great way to introduce a partner or friend to the experience of massage. Perhaps someone you know is unsure of whether or not massage is for them.
What a great way to ensure someone is comfortable and feels reassured during the experience, knowing you’re right by their side! You never know, you might just convert someone to love massages as much as you do! Perhaps your relationship needs some rekindling. Why not share a relaxing and restorative experience in order to get that passion going again?
Of course, a couple’s massage doesn’t just have to be between a romantic couple! Why not take your Mum along for a Mother’s Day treat? Or treat yourself and a girlfriend to an afternoon of pampering? Special events such as Hen’s, Birthdays or Baby Showers would be perfectly complimented by a massage session!
Couple’s massage can be a wonderful bonding experience between two people, allowing for reconnection and relaxation shared together. It can be the perfect complement to a romantic weekend, special anniversary or the perfect gift for a stressed out partner or friend who just needs to unwind and de-stress. (Just make sure the two of you decide whether you want to chat during the massage or wait until it’s over to catch up on the Goss!)
Come and have a chat about the kind of massage experience you‘re after. There are plenty of different types of massage to choose from and optional extras can always be added on to enrich the experience.
